Frequently Asked Questions
What is play-based therapy?
Play-based therapy involves teaching children new skills through motivating, age-appropriate contexts that feel natural and engaging. It usually involves a balance between the child's interests and focusing on contexts that will facilitate the target skills. We want learning to feel like fun, not work!
What is parent-coaching?
Parent coaching is a form of therapy used for children to ensure the parent feels confident in supporting their child's continued development of speech and language skills and carryover of skills learned in therapy sessions with the SLP. It is often used in combination with direct therapy from the SLP.
What is AAC?
AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication. It can refer to communication supports such as gestures and pictures or other methods of communicating, such as sign language or the use of a communication device.
